Book Fair

The Fall Book Fair was a great successDue to the generous purchases by our College View families and friends, and the selfless work of our volunteers, the Fall Book Fair became a great fundraiser for College View!!!

 - $2,800 in revenue allowed us to purchase new books for our school library!
 - $350 in additional revenue allowed our teachers to buy new books for their class room libraries!
 - $96 in additional revenue allowed us to give books as prizes to the top students in our reading contest!

In this economy, College View truly appreciates your support, these are great numbers which provided great support to making our Wildcats strong readers!
And now... it is time for our Spring 2010 Book Fair!....

College View's Spring Book Fair will be here from March 11th through March 19th.  The following are the important dates for our families to know:
  • March 10th - the book fair arrives and today will be a set-up day only.  No purchases will be allowed on this day as it is set-up only.  However, anyone that can come down and lend a hand, for any amount of time, makes a great difference!
  • March 11th - Student previews begin.  Over the next few days, students will be brought in with their class to look around the book fair, identify books that best suit their reading level, and complete a form that allows them to tell their parents about books they are interested in. These forms will come home in your child's backpack.  Purchases can be made after school hours until 3pm.
  • March 12th and March 15th - Student previews will continue.  If you desire for your student to make a purchase, you can send them to school with money.  They should notify their teacher that they have money to make a purchase, and the teacher will provide a time during their day for them to go in and make that purchase.  Purchases will also be allowed during recess and lunchtime.  However, students are only allowed in if they have money in hand.
  • March 15th - Family Night - this is a special night featuring a teacher's story telling session with milk and cookies.  Bring your family and friends to enjoy the story time and make and book purchases.  The time of the event is from 5:30 - 8:00.
  • March 18th - Last Chance Night - this is the night before the Book Fair closes.  Mike the Clown will be in attendance to make balloon animals for the kids, and warm popcorn will be offered to all attendees.  Again, family members, friends and neighbors are welcome.  The time of the event is from 5:30 to 7:30.
  • March 19th - this is the last day for students to make any purchases they wanted to make.  The end of the Book Fair will be at 1pm.  At that time, we will begin clean-up.  Clean-up is a fairly quick and easy process.  Again, any parents volunteers are greatly appreciated!
Reading Contest:
Your student(s) will be given a Reading Contest form in class.  The more pages they read, the more likely they will be chosen to be the top reader for their grade level.  If they are chosen, they will be invited to attend the Last Chance night on March 18th to participate in a contest to determine the final winner for their grade level.  The final winner will be given a $15 certificate to purchase books that night at the fair.

The contest will come home on Wednesday, March 10th and must be turned in on Wednesday, March 17th for your student(s) to be eligible.  If your child does not receive the form, or needs extra space to write down their books, the form will be available for download here on March 10th.

Also, please find the Reading Contest Rules here.
